& Forms
The following is a list and explanation of the different
types of permits that must be obtained from the Township in
order to do particular types of improvement work. Click on
a heading to view and download forms and applications. All
permit applications must be signed by the property owner.
All permits must be posted at the construction site.
Zoning Information
Click on the heading to obtain information about Zoning in
Edgmont Township, including the types of land uses within
the zones and information about zoning in general. Please
call the Building Department at 610-459-1662 if you have
questions about zoning for a particular property.
Building
Information
Building permits
are required for many improvements. Click on the heading to
see the requirements and to download application
forms.
Plumbing,
electrical, mechanical permits
and
fire code permits
are included under this heading.
Erosion and Sedimentation Control and Storm
Water Management
Click on the heading to download Grading permit
applications and regulations. Grading permits are required
when the impervious ground coverage is increased by 750
square feet or more or 4000 square feet of land or more
will be disturbed during construction activity. Gardening
for home use is exempt from a grading permit. For more

Highway Occupancy
Permits
The Township requires that a permit be obtained for
construction of a new driveway that opens onto a Township
road. (A Penn Dot Highway occupancy permit is required for
a driveway that opens onto a State road). A permit must
also be obtained before excavating in a Township right of
way.
Subdivision and Land
Development
Anyone wishing to subdivide and /or develop a property or
properties must submit an application for Subdivision &
Land Development. The forms needed to apply for a
Conditional Use are also included here. Click on the

Sign Permits
Sign permits are required for the erection of new or
replacement signs, whether permanent or temporary. A permit
must be obtained before a sign is erected. Banners are
considered signs under the Edgmont Township Zoning
Ordinance.
Swimming Pool
Permit
A permit is required for any in-ground or above ground pool
that holds more than 18” of water. All pools must be
enclosed within a barrier that meets the requirements of
section 3109 of the International Building Code. Click on

Fee Schedules
The
fees charged by the Township for permit applications and
related items, Zoning Hearing Board, Conditional Use or
Subdivision and Land Development applications, professional
reviews, and many other items are included on these
