2008 TAX Summary
Edgmont Township traditionally has one of the lowest real
estate tax rates in all of Delaware County. There is no
earned income tax imposed on wage earners living in Edgmont
Township. There is no mercantile, business or entertainment
tax. Administrative services and snow removal are provided
by revenue collected from the modest millage tax.
Edgmont Township has no debt service. The land acquisition
and building improvements completed in 1996 which are the
site of the municipal building were paid for by funds in
the capital improvement project account.
In addition to the real estate taxes, Edgmont residents
also contribute to the Edgmont Township Volunteer Fire
Company and two local ambulance companies. Certain
properties also pay a hydrant tax if there is a fire
hydrant within 780 feet of their property.
During budget preparation and review the manager /
treasurer meets with the Board of Supervisors to project
revenues and expenses for the upcoming year as well as
capital improvement projects, and a millage rate is arrived
at for tax purposes.
